Issuing a Security Deposit Cheque:
The tenant issues a bank cheque for the amount of the security deposit, which is usually equal to one, two or three monthly rent payments. This cheque is given to the landlord as a sign that the tenant is willing to provide a security deposit in case of breach of the agreement.


Issuing Rent Cheques:
The tenant issues post-dated bank cheques for the entire amount of rent for the entire lease term (usually 12 months). Post-dated cheques indicate a future date for payment.
